The objects of the charity and limited
company are ‘ the advancement of the Christian faith and
education including the relief of persons experiencing
poverty homelessness physical and mental disability and
the provision of accommodation and support.’
Open Door began as a Churches
Together initiative in 1997 and now manages and
provides:
Portland House Supported housing
for young people aged 16-30.
Rockfield House Homeless family
accommodation on behalf of Forest Heath District
Council
Charity Superstore & Training
Centre & Old Station Road Charity
Shop Retailing donated furniture and bric-a-brac
etc and providing volunteering and training
opportunities for disadvantaged people and the wider
community
Emergency Food Parcels and Meal
Vouchers Providing discounted food at two local
restaurants and basic foodstuffs for people in
emergency need
The Foodbank Distributing donated
food to people in need
