The Charity Superstore and Training Centre

What is it?

Terry Waite (President), John Durrant (General Manager), Steve Maddox (Operations Manager) and Mike Webb (Woodworks supervisor) at the opening of the store.

The Charity Superstore retails donated goods and provides a furniture collection and delivery service with assistance from volunteers and trainees. Open Door aims to raise funds and provide informal training and support to disadvantaged people who may between jobs, recovering from illness or substance misuse, and give them a home in the world of work.
Where are we?
The Charity Superstore is situated on an industrial estate owned by Forest Heath District Council at Unit 2 Craven Way, Newmarket, the first turning off Depot Road before the Household Waste Recycling Centre.
When are we open?
Our opening times are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 4pm Saturdays. We are not open Sundays or Bank Holidays.
What do we sell?
Open Door retails a variety of items including a wide range of furniture including sofas, beds, wardrobes, chests of drawers, bedside cabinets, dressing tables, armchairs, computer and office desks, dining room tables, chairs, wall units, coffee tables, bookcases……

There is also a wide selection of clean clothing, bedding, curtains, table lamps, china, cutlery, glasses, pictures, mirrors, books, videos, music cassettes, records and all manner of bric-a-brac.

If someone made it then we have had it, got it or may get it. Requests can be made.

How do you donate?
You are welcome to bring items to the Superstore during opening times. Donors often make a trip to the Recycling Centre but first offer it to Open Door.

For those who need help in transporting donations, especially furniture, Open Door will arrange a collection from Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm. Collections outside of these times are also possible but not easy for us to organise.

Call 01638 660900 to book a collection.  We offer pick-ups within an hour on an agreed date in order to try and minimise any disruption to your normal routine and to make effective use of our van. Should there be last minute problems we will telephone you to re-book.

Where do we collect from?
Our collection catchment area is generally from Cambridge in the West to Bury in the East and to Ely and Mildenhall in the North to Haverhill in the South.
